When Is It Time To Give Up On Your Product or Program ?

One question that we all face as an Internet marketer is when
we should give up on a specific product or program we are
promoting. This can be a tough question to answer depending
on specific circumstances surrounding it. Let’s take a
closer look at what I mean by that.

1. Are people spending money in your market? If transactions
are taking place every day on the Internet in the market your
product is in then you have to analyze why you are not
getting some of that action.

Creating a market for a product online is extremely
difficult to do. Taking a piece of the pie from an existing
market is something anyone can do if they approach it
correctly.

2. Do you really believe in it? I have always felt that
affiliate marketers and network marketers are more likely to
succeed if they believe in the product they are purchasing.

For example, if you are selling a product as an affiliate
marketer a good way to do that is to write a review about
it. The only truly legitimate way you can do that is to
purchase the product and then write about what you learn.

In network marketing many people purchase products strictly
because they want to support their business. However when
they drop out they no longer continue to purchase the
product. A good rule of thumb here is would you continue to
purchase the product even if you were not a distributor for
it?

3. Are you losing money on it? I know if I’m involved in a
specific program I expect for that program to pay for itself
in 90 days or less.

This means that I would join an affiliate program and
promote that product a lease to the extent that it’s
covering its monthly cost. I do this for programs such as
website hosting, auto responders, article submissions
programs, and so on.

If you’re losing money, and you see no real way to recoup
that, then there really is no reason to continue to stay
with that product or program unless it is something you need
for your business anyway.

4. Do you have Internet marketing skills? Giving up on a
product or program is irrelevant if you don’t know hot to
market online.

The problem is not in the product or the program itself, but
rather in your ability to promote it online. Until you learn
a least a couple of traffic generation skills there is no
sense in giving up on the product you are promoting.

How will you know if you are going to make sales if you have
no traffic coming to your website!

5. Do you have an solid online work ethic? Only you can
really analyze this question. Sitting in front of your
computer and hanging out on Facebook is not necessarily a
solid work ethic.

Surfing the Internet and wasting your valuable time is not
going to help you be successful. If you are really working
hard promoting your product, and not getting into results,
then you need to analyze what the real reason for that is.

These are several things to keep in mind pertaining to when
it is time to give up on the product you are promoting or a
program you are in.

This implies that the site has been found by copious numbers of individuals, that it imparts to the searcher what they were looking for and that the placement has been achieved by no artificial means, or in other words, it has not paid to be found in that specific position.

Different Types of Cranes

Cranes are machines that use levers and/or pulleys to lift significant weights. A crane one passes on the road may look like a fairly modern invention, but these machines have actually been used for at least the past 2000 years, if not longer. The Romans used cranes to build huge monuments. Medieval churches were constructed with them. Also, the Egyptians may have used them to create pyramids. The modern version can be either simple or complex, and cranes vary based on their application.

A relatively simple crane is the mobile crane. A telescopic boom (arm) or steel truss mounts its movable platform. Either pulleys or levers raise the boom. Generally a hook suspends from the boom.

The platform of a mobile crane can either have traditional wheels, wheels designed for railroad tracks, or a caterpillar track, which is useful for navigating unpaved and uneven surfaces. Mobiles can be used for demolition or earthmoving by replacing the hook with an appropriate tool, such as a wrecking ball or bucket. Telescopic cranes, with a series of hydraulic tubes fit together to form the boom, can also be mobile.

Truck mounted and rough terrain cranes are both essentially mobile as well. The truck-mounted crane generally has outriggers to increase its stability. Rough terrain cranes tend to have a base that resembles the bottom of a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Outriggers also stabilize these cranes. They tend to be used in rough terrain, as the name suggests, and are frequently used to pick up and transport materials.

Loader cranes have hydraulic powered booms fitted onto trailers. They load goods onto the trailer and the jointed sections of the boom are folded down when not in use. The loader may also be considered telescopic, as one section of the boom, in some designs, may telescope for ease of use.

Stacker cranes are most frequently seen in automated warehouses where they tend to follow an automatic retrieval system. For example, in huge automated freezers, these cranes, equipped with forklift apparatus, can work by remote, stacking or obtaining foods as needed. This retrieval system makes it possible to keep workers out of the cold.

Gantry cranes are most often found in ports and railroads, where they unload and move huge containers off of ships and trains. The bases are huge crossbeams which run on rails, so lifted containers can be moved from one location to another. The portainer is a special type of gantry that lifts materials on and off ships.

Floating cranes mounted on barges or pontoons are also essential to the shipping industry. Situated in water, they are used to construct ports, salvage ships or build bridges. Like portainers, floating cranes also can unload ships. They are able to handle very heavy loads and awkwardly shaped containers.

Tower cranes, conversely, do not generally have a moveable base. These are often the tallest cranes, and have to be assembled piece by piece. The base looks like a long ladder, and the boom is perpendicular to the base. Tower cranes are used to construct tall buildings, and in the case of skyscrapers, the tower crane is often assembled and affixed inside the building itself during construction.

All cranes represent a meeting of simple machines, used for the purpose of reducing workload. However simple they may seem, they are instrumental in many aspects of industry. They can dig, move, create, or destroy, depending on their type. Cranes exemplify that sometimes the oldest ideas are the best ones.

In the world of the internet marketer there are five great absolutes.
You need a great offer.
You need a great sales page.
You need traffic to that sales page.
You need to capture the email addresses of people who go to your sales page – opt in.
You need to know the demographics of the traffic who will buy your offer.

In the previous article we discussed how to approach research into keywords using a number of free tools easily available on the internet. This phase of keyword research concentrate on numbers of searches and level of competition for the keywords.

Now, wouldn’t it be great if we could find out the ages, incomes, status, ethnicity and locality of the people who search for these keywords? That would allow us to target our marketing towards a specific group of people who fit the profile of our perfect buyer. As an aside, you should create a profile of your perfect buyer when you choose or create the product you are going to promote. So what strategy and tools should we use to accomplish this?

Firstly, we will spy on our competitors and see who is visiting their sites. We will do this by typing our keyword into google and seeing which sites appear. Try “meditation downloads”. Choose one of the sites and view it.

Now the tool we are going to use to see just who goes to this site is available if you google “quantcast”. Go to the quantcast website and you will see a box at the top where you type in the name of the website you have chosen. For example, meditationstore.com. Click the big blue “FIND” button and behold the magic.

On the site I chose I received the following information for US residents. Score of 100 is the internet average.

Suddenly, you know far more about what constitutes your target audience. This method can be used to analyze any website that has some history of traffic. And you are not really interested in websites that don’t get any traffic. It is a fantastic, free tool to help you target your prospects.

Secondly, we will do some alternate investigation into the demographics of the “meditation downloads” prospects. The tool we will use for this is Facebook. With around  half a billion members, you can be reasonably certain that statistics obtained from Facebook will have statistical validity and it will give more value to you than updating your facebook page that you “went to Bondi and had coffee by the beach. Saw Hugh Jackman jogging. Drool.”

Go to Facebook. At the very bottom of your home page you will see a little blue “advertising”. Click on that. Click on “Create an Ad”. There it is. You can choose a country, sex, age, interests (meditation, yoga, spirituality etc) and education. Facebook tells you exactly how many people who meet the parameters you set! This immediately gives you an idea of the extent of your target market. The figure I got for setting these parameters was 838,560 Facebook members. Now, what would they like to buy?

One final investigative tool for demographics. Go to Plenty of Fish. At the bottom you will see “Advertise Here”. Click and enter. The demographics for the Plenty of Fish clientele are shown immediately. Ninety million visitors and 2.1 billion page views per month. 95% of Plenty of Fish visitors are from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Stable, rich first world countries. (Is your mind ticking over?)

Plenty of Fish will let you target precise demographics such as country, city, age, gender, education, income, body type, ethnicity, religion, car status, job description and even alcohol consumption. Now there are some very interesting parameters there for you to consider. On the right hand side of the page there is a search box which allows you to search interests by demographic. Type in “meditation”. Once again, the average is 100%.

Step 3 of the success plan, well that’s the part that can only come after you find your mentor, because you want an opportunity that you actually believe in and is “right for you”. Once you get some insight into the industry from your mentor, he/she will assist you in establishing your goals and needs in relation to what talents and abilities you bring into the equation. And of course , prepare yourself to work hard, because hard work is the gasoline which will propel your financial success. If you find the right fit for you, then the “easy” part may still not come, but the profit or money part will.
